TOWN BOARD CANDIDATE
Josh Menelas
My name is Joshua Menelas and I am running for Irondequoit Town Board. I have been an Irondequoit resident for 20+ years and graduated from Bishop Kearney High School. I went on to study at St. John Fisher College (now University) while still living in this Town.
At 15 years old , I joined the Point Pleasant Fire Department as an explorer and became an active volunteer at age 18. I currently am a career firefighter with the Brighton Fire Department. In my free time you can find me singing, reading, working out and spending time with family and friends.
Prior to my career, I worked passionately with the special needs community, reviewing individual goals, planning career aspirations and worked closely with program coordinators to ensure inclusivity. In addition, I worked as a Senior Care Manager, advocating for mental health care for individuals assigned to me.
Being a Black man in this community who has worked in public service, I hope to bring my knowledge of my life experiences here in Irondequoit to the Town Board. I also hope to shed light on what it is like interacting with people of different backgrounds.
People have asked why I'm running:
I see the decisiveness that is within this town and I want to be part of the solution, working for all people in this town, that I grew up in and love.
